Roles and Permissions in TaskPilot

Roles and permissions control user access, ensuring each user has the tools needed while protecting sensitive data.

In TaskPilot, roles and permissions define what each user can access and manage within the platform. These roles are assigned when a user is created. For guidance on creating users, please refer to our [How to create a user] guide. Note that roles are applicable only to users on the desktop platform. Here’s an overview of each role and their respective permissions:

Here’s a breakdown of the roles in TaskPilot:

  1. Admin: The Admin role has unrestricted access across the entire platform. Admins can manage all aspects of TaskPilot, from creating tasks and projects to handling invoices and overseeing user management. They have the highest level of control and can access any area within the system.

  2. Manager: Managers have full access to everything related to tasks and their tracking. This includes assigning tasks, monitoring progress, approving completed work, and managing the workflow. Managers play a crucial role in overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently.

  3. Accountant: The Accountant role is focused on financial management. Accountants have access to invoices and everything related to billing. They can create, edit, and send invoices, as well as manage payments and financial records.

  4. App User: This role grants access to the TaskPilot mobile app, which is typically used by contractors for task management and time tracking. However, managers can also be assigned this role if they participate in contractor activities or need to engage directly with tasks via the app. This dual-role capability ensures that both managers and contractors have the necessary tools for their specific responsibilities within TaskPilot.

Each role is designed to provide users with the tools and access they need to perform their duties effectively while maintaining security and control over sensitive information.
